Jake Lang — a self-described “January 6 patriot” and the owner of SponsorJ6.com, a site that raises money for January 6 inmates — has been sentenced to lifelong solitary confinement after sharing a video of himself praying in his cell. In the footage, which was shot on a stolen cell phone, Lang waving a Holy Bible and praying for the release of the January 6 prisoners and Donald Trump to win back the White House.
Lang, who’s spent close to 1,400 days without trial, has become a case study in the Biden administration’s alleged war-game against political enemies that involves using DOJ to silence him. His supporters say Lang, who has been in solitary confinement for more than 900 days, is facing unconstitutional and brutal treatment for participating in the January 6 protests.
Solitary Confinement After Prayer Video
The day Lang posted the prayer video online, his cell at the Brooklyn Federal Prison was raided on 3 October. Prison authorities had apparently raped him during the search and told him that he would be locked up in isolation throughout his time in prison. The trial of Lang has been postponed for the sixth time to 12 November 2024.
Lang wrote about his experience on social media: the raid was brutal, the officers treated him like “an animal,” and they called him a “domestic terrorist”. His supporters insist that his treatment is part of a mass execution of January 6 inmates who they say are political captives of the Biden administration.
Continued Struggles and Transfers
Two days ago Lang was moved from Brooklyn to the Washington, D.C. Inmate prison, famous for keeping January 6 inmates in extreme conditions. At the hospital, Lang had to be tied up in a “black box” with a bandage, which bled on his wrists. He also said he had been starving for more than 24 hours while being transferred while U.S. Marshals ate in front of him.
The conditions at the D.C. Jail have been slammed by GOP legislators who have called the January 6 prisoners treatment inhumane (Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is a Republican). Lang and others are held, with promises of better treatment, in a jail so violent and overcrowded that there are growing fears for their safety and wellbeing.
Two-Tiered Justice System?
Lang’s admirers say that his arrest reveals that the US operates a double-blind system of justice, with the punishment of political opponents draconian and the freedom of others. They point to instances where leftist rioters and violent criminals have been released on bail, while Lang and other January 6 prisoners face prolonged detention without trial. For them, Lang’s treatment is a constitutional infringement and an insidious expression of political persecution.
With a November trial date near, Lang’s case is still getting national media coverage. His supporters have started a commissary fund for January 6 prisoners and families, who are often trying to make ends meet while loved ones are imprisoned.
A Plea for Justice
Lang’s message to the American people remains one of resilience and faith, as he continues to lean on his Christian beliefs during his incarceration. “God will provide,” Lang said through his legal team, calling for support for the January 6 community and urging Americans to stand up for liberty.
