In the wake of President Donald Trump’s decisive 2024 electoral victory, General Michael Flynn joined Steve Bannon on The War Room on Wednesday morning to discuss the election’s implications and Trump’s agenda for his upcoming term. Not only did Trump win the presidency, but Republicans also reclaimed control of both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, setting the stage for sweeping policy changes and significant administrative reform.

Flynn, who served as Trump’s National Security Advisor in 2017, offered insights on what he considers essential for Trump’s successful second term. He also issued warnings about potential obstacles and discussed how Trump’s team should handle any interference.

Flynn Warns of “Deep State” Resistance

Reflecting on his own experiences in the early days of Trump’s first term, Flynn warned that the new administration would face opposition from entrenched government personnel. He emphasized the need to take immediate action against what he called “highly qualified experts” who may be positioned to hinder the administration’s goals.

“The administration is going to hire a bunch of people just like Obama did, stick them into key slots, and they’re going to block and tackle every single day. Those people have to be eliminated,” Flynn asserted. “On day one, they need to be removed, their clearances and badges taken away. We don’t have to go through this again.”

Flynn also mentioned the potential threats Trump might face, both politically and personally, given what he perceives as ongoing opposition. He advised Trump to strengthen his personal security measures as the incoming president to ensure his safety until inauguration and beyond.

Reforming Government Agencies

During the interview, Flynn expressed support for Elon Musk’s idea of cutting government inefficiencies. Musk has previously suggested that the federal government should undergo a major overhaul to increase efficiency and cut costs across agencies. Flynn echoed this sentiment, adding that entire departments could be reorganized or eliminated to streamline government functions.

Flynn suggested that Trump adopt a strategy similar to that of Argentina’s new president, Javier Milei, who has advocated for dismantling entire departments, such as the Department of Education. Flynn argued that such moves would not only reduce bureaucracy but also align with Trump’s agenda of limited government and increased accountability.

“Accountability Must Happen”

Flynn also addressed former government officials, like former FBI Director James Comey, who have voiced concerns about Trump’s plans to reform the Justice Department and FBI. Flynn stated that those who had wronged Trump’s administration during his first term must be held accountable, expressing that legal actions might be pursued.

“We will be effective with the rule of law, but accountability must happen,” Flynn said. “The damage done by people like Comey and [former CIA Director] John Brennan is something the country cannot afford to overlook. They acted against a sitting president, and it was treasonous.”

Preparing for Political Opposition

Bannon and Flynn acknowledged that Trump’s team needs to be prepared to face opposition from political figures and institutions. Flynn said he believed that political adversaries would attempt to impede Trump’s plans, but he emphasized that the administration must not back down.

Flynn also alluded to Project 2025, a conservative roadmap backed by the Heritage Foundation that outlines a conservative overhaul of federal policy and structure. The project, which suggests significant reforms and executive branch restructuring, aligns closely with Trump’s agenda and has gained support among Republicans who see it as a blueprint for meaningful change.

Looking Forward

General Flynn emphasized that Trump’s victory and the GOP’s control of Congress provide a unique opportunity to reset the priorities of the federal government and realign its structure with the principles of efficiency and accountability. Flynn closed by saying he is optimistic about Trump’s second term but underscored the importance of a prepared and vigilant administration.

The discussion set a tone for what promises to be a transformative period in Washington, with Flynn and Bannon hinting at big changes to come. President-elect Trump’s team, they said, must stay focused and proactive to capitalize on this opportunity to implement reforms and resist any roadblocks placed by political adversaries.
