Florida Gov.’s Make Warnings Before Hurricane Milton Departs Florida

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody issued an icy message ahead of Hurricane Milton’s predicted arrival: Residents in evacuation areas should evacuate immediately. Moody warned those that stayed behind to brace themselves, suggesting people do anything they can to be known later when the storm passes.

“If they say get out and it’s going to hit us like this and they can’t predict exactly that storm surge and you are in an evacuation zone, you probably need to write your name in permanent marker on your arm so that people know who you are when they get to you afterwards,” Moody said in a statement to the press .

Hurricane Milton will be accompanied by devastating storm surges, especially on coastal areas of west Florida. Officials have stressed that these surges are unpredictable, and that they are prone to being overlaid.

“Storm surge is one of the most dangerous aspects of hurricanes, and Milton is no different,” said Kevin Guthrie, Director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management. “We cannot stress enough the importance of heeding evacuation orders and leaving if you are in a high-risk zone. Staying behind puts your life and the lives of first responders at risk” .

A Thunderstorm of Old Dimensions

Milton has already gone down as one of the stronger hurricanes in 2024. Winds could top 150 mph and flood disasters could be predicted, devastating neighborhoods on Florida’s west coast. Shelters are already filled as people come running from the storm and emergency services prepare to be blown apart.

There is still uncertainty coming toward landfall, and authorities keep an eye on the storm’s development. Anyone living in Hurricane Milton’s path should continue to tune in for local emergency announcements and follow all precautions.
