As polls remain open on Election Day, Republicans appear to be gaining momentum in Arizona, a crucial battleground state. Uplift Campaigns, a group that has been tracking voter turnout and ballot counts throughout the election season, is now providing real-time updates on voting trends in Arizona precincts, including Maricopa County. With hourly updates on its website, Uplift Campaigns has become a key source for tracking the latest in voter turnout.

Early Voting Shows Strong Republican Lead

Throughout early voting, Arizona Republicans appeared to have an edge over Democrats in ballot returns. According to Uplift’s latest data, 2.5 million ballots were cast statewide ahead of Election Day. Of these, Republican voters contributed a total of 1,015,409 early votes, while Democrats turned in 797,098 ballots. This early Republican lead has set the tone as Election Day voting unfolds, with many anticipating higher turnout among GOP voters in person at precincts across the state.

High Turnout in Maricopa County

Maricopa County, which includes Phoenix, has been a focal point for Election Day turnout. Uplift’s data shows a high volume of ballots submitted by Republicans in Maricopa County, significantly boosting their lead over Democrats in one of Arizona’s largest counties.

Reports indicate that this trend of high Republican turnout has extended across several other counties as well. With 136,000 ballots cast in Maricopa County alone and another 13,000 in Pima County, Republicans have seen substantial support throughout Arizona.

Implications for Democrats

This rising turnout and widening deficit for Democrats, compared to 2020 levels, has put pressure on their candidates as they aim to narrow the gap in key areas. Political analyst Brahm Resnik noted that the trend in Republican early voting has surged since the last election cycle, increasing the challenge for Democrats to rally a strong Election Day response.

Looking Ahead

As precincts continue to report their turnout data in real-time, it remains to be seen how much ground Democrats can make up in the remaining hours. With Uplift Campaigns offering ongoing tracking, both parties are keeping a close eye on the latest developments, particularly in Maricopa County and other populous regions.
